Grief & Trauma Expert  | Author | Speaker | Sexual Abuse Advocate | Psychotherapist.

These are a few of the titles that describe me. If you throw wife, mom, granny, Bible teacher, and avid sports fan into the mix that would about complete the picture.

The truth is, life is tough and sometimes really bad things happen. I know because I've had my share--- from abuse to divorce to financial hardship, and loss. But one of the things you’ll hear me say frequently is, “life happens to all of us, but the true story is told in how we respond to what has happened.”

There’s no way I could have known as a 14 year old girl living through sexual abuse that my pain would or could be used to help others. But that’s exactly what it means “to give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness” Isaiah 61:3.

Have you ever had difficulty connecting in meaningful relatinships because of your past trauma? Ever felt like you were being suffocated by the secret you were holding? I get it. I've been there. That's why I'm passionate about helping women suffering in silence learn to live in perfect peace. Through my work I share my story of triumph over childhood sexual while equipping and encouraging the women I serve.

I want women to know they do not have to live in the shadows of abuse. They do not have to remain silent about their trauma for fear of not being believed. I know all too well how it feels to hide in plain sight, to be hyper vigilant, and to feel disconnected during times of intimacy with the one you love. I also know healing is indeed possible and life can flourish

You may have heard me on popular radio show or podcast including Saving Grace Podcast, Grace Café, Ralph Cooper Show, The Review with Joy & Company, Women of Power Radio Show, Marketer’s on a Mission and others.

I’ve interviewed a long list of women of faith on my radio program The Pearls of Wisdom Show with Katherine Barner including Erica Tazel, Wendy Blight, Susie Larson, CeCe Winans, Karen Abercrombie, Melanie Few Harrison and others. The show has ceased production, but you can listen to show archives here.

I earned my BA in Psychology from Spelman College, my M.Ed. in Counseling from the Univeristy of North Texas and am certified as an ICISF crisis responder, Clinical Trauma Specialist, and trained EMDR practitioner.

That time I woke up to snow in Houston on my 50th birthday!

When I'm not consulting with clients, creating content for the women I serve, prepping for a speaking engagement or writing, you can find me hanging out with my family and closest friends.  My husband and I call Houston, TX home and are blessed to be parents to 4 adult children and 1 amazing granddaughter.

Get in touch today to learn how we can work together.
If you're an event organizer and would like to invite me to speak get in touch by completing the pre-event questionnaire. I would love to share with your group or organization.
